Edward "Big Ed" Jack Milewski
August 14, 1928 – June 6, 2019
Edward “Big Ed” Jack Milewski passed away on June 6, 2019, with his children by his side.
His last days were spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sharing memories, stories, and laughter.
Ed was born August 14, 1928, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Polish immigrants, Bert and Louise. He graduated from Union High School where he excelled in track and was a Michigan state record holder, setting records for the cross country and mile run.
Ed had a strong will and feisty spirit. He was proud to tell about how he joined the Navy at age 17. While Ed was in the service, he became a naval ship boxing champion.
Ed married Jeanne Hokanson on November 23, 1949, and together they raised five children. Ed had many skilled trades and ended his career as a facilities manager. He became a Boy Scout Master in Michigan, sharing his knowledge and passion for scouting. He also coached Pee Wee football in Illinois. The family moved to Colorado in 1973. In Fort Collins, Ed volunteered many hours for Special Olympics because of his heart for children with disabilities.
One of the greatest gifts that Ed gave his children and grandchildren was his love of the outdoors. He spent time most weekends hunting and fishing with his sons and daughters. The family spent memorable time at their cabin on Bull Mountain in Colorado.
His grandchildren treasured their time with Ed as well. He was extremely funny, cracking jokes and telling stories that they will never forget. Most of all, Ed made sure he let them know how much he loved them.
Later in life, Ed developed his talent as an artist. He created beautiful, colorful paintings of serene mountain scenes, cabins near calm lakes, and pictures of the outdoors he loved so much.
Ed is survived by long-time companion, Kris; former wife, Jeanne; son Greg and grandson Holden; daughter Karyn (Kent) Hendricks and grandson Travis; son Scott (Kim) and granddaughters Riley, Jaime, and Lindsay; son Paul (Julie) and grandsons Zach and Keegan, and granddaughters Ashley and Jacque; daughter Kristin (Andy) Anselmo and grandsons Alec and Jake; and many great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019, at 3pm at Providence Church in Fort Collins. A reception will follow immediately after at Paul and Julie’s house.

So today we celebrate Fathers Day and the many men that have touched our lives. As our family comes together today, we jump in the fishing boat with our grandson and head out to the water. The fish, the birds, the mountains, the sky are all reminders of our recent loss of Dad Ski. We experience a multitude of emotions as we stop to ponder how fast this life goes and how precious every moment is!
Dad's love of life was transcending and contagious! We will miss him forever but are so thankful for his impact on each of us.
Every beautiful day will be painted by him and every thunder storm will be him rockin the dance floor!
Love you Dad, Scott and Kim
