Ted Newcomer, 85, recently passed away in Colorado after a short illness. There was nothing that Ted liked more than a gathering of friends and loved ones, so we are hosting a celebration of his life and Memorial Service. It will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Allnutt Funeral Service Drake Chapel, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO.
The son of the late Wilma and Ed Newcomer, Ted grew up in Buffalo, Wyoming. While working at Dairy Queen, he met his future wife, Lora; they were married for 50 years. Ted served for 20 years in the US Air Force as a navigator, pilot and pilot instructor; he flew the RF-4 in Vietnam. Ted felt blessed to be an escort for Operation Homecoming, the repatriation of American Prisoners of War. In fact, Ted considered that assignment to be “a great honor, and the high point of my career – my life.” While serving in the Air Force, Ted took classes at night to finish his BS degree. After retirement, he earned his law degree at University of Wyoming College of Law and practiced in Laramie, Wyoming. His third and final career took him to Cody, Wyoming where he was an HR Manager for a manufacturing company.
Wherever he lived, Ted was active in his community. He was a member and past president of Rotary Club, sang in various choirs and barbershop quartets, and served with the Chamber of Commerce, as well as various community, school and youth advisory boards.
Ted and his beloved wife, Lora, moved to Colorado in 2006 to be nearer family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lora, his son, Paul, and his parents. Ted is survived by three daughters, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, as well as his three sisters, a brother and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Rotary International, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, either by check or online at: https://my.rotary.org/en/donate
