She was born June 27, 1925 in New Haven, Connecticut to Charles and Antoinette Farnham. She was the youngest and last of her generation. Elizabeth attended The Day School in New Haven and then received her degree in Graphic Design from The Rhode Island School of Design.
Elizabeth married Darwin Solomon on June 3, 1950 and lived in numerous places around the world throughout their lives. They lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where their first son, Charles, was born, Ithaca, New York, where their second son, David, was born, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, where their third son, Christopher, was born, and Rome, Italy. In 1987 she and Darwin retired in Boulder, Colorado. For a time they lived in their cabin at South Beaver Creek and then moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1990.
Along with being a homemaker, Elizabeth was involved in choral music, dance, piano and loved art. In Thailand she was involved in cross-cultural activities and taught western folk dances. While in Rome, she helped publish archeological publications for the underwater archeologist Anna Marguerite McCann Taggart with the Academy of Rome. Upon retirement she launched herself into watercolor, mixed mediums and was involved in a Fort Collins artist group. Throughout her life she completed hundreds of beautiful watercolor paintings.
Elizabeth loved having her family around her at meal times, as well as social events around meals, and developed an amazing array of recipes that she could create but not share on paper.
She also loved playing piano, knitting, and creating birthday and Valentine’s cards for people.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Charles (Roberta) Solomon, David Solomon, and Christopher (Nancy) Solomon; grandchildren, Theresa (Al) Blue, Tabitha (Joshua) Parker, Ian Solomon, Seth Solomon, and Andrea Sferrazza; four great-grandchildren: Micah, Abigail, Alanna and Oliver Blue, and numerous nieces and nephews.
