Elizabeth "Liz" Rose Vap

April 22, 1941May 28, 2021

Elizabeth Rose “Liz” Vap, 80, of Ft. Collins, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021. She was born in Denver on April 22, 1941, the daughter of the late James J. and Jacqueline S. Grossart.

Liz’s father was in the Air Force and was stationed in many different locations and moved often. As a child, she lived in Texas and Oklahoma. When she was a small child, she was also raised by her precious grandma Rose when her daddy went off to war. Liz finished her schooling in Colorado. As a young adult, Liz worked in several different fields and attended school with the goal of becoming a medical terminologist. Liz eventually worked for Montgomery Wards and GE in the collections depart and finished her career at Swift in collections and accounts receivable. At times, she worked two jobs to support her five children, all on her own. Due to her perseverance and her work ethic, her children always had a warm and loving home and she provided everything they needed. Liz was a strong, independent woman, who was known for her heart of gold, self-sacrifice, and loving personality. Liz had many hobbies, including gardening and crocheting. She loved to make beautiful and treasured gifts for people she loved. Liz’s yard was the envy of all; she continued to mow, weed, and care for it for as long as she could. Another pleasure of Liz’s was soap operas and game shows. Her most treasured time was spent with family, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as her beloved dogs Toby and Sadie.

Liz is survived by her five children, James (Esther) Taylor, Christina (Danny) Ball, Terri (Jim) Oligmueller, John Taylor, and Melissa Haney. She had 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Liz is also survived by two brothers, two sisters, and was referred to as “Aunt Betty” to numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving son-in-law Eric Haney.

A memorial service was held at Resthaven Funeral Home on June 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with internment and reception following. Donations in memory of Liz may be made to Pathways Hospice or Humane Society of Larimer County.

Thank you for being you. You were an amazing mom and such a strong force in my Life. Your lessons and advice are what shaped me to be the wife, mom and Gammy that I am.. I can only pray to be half of the woman that you were . I’m going to miss your kind eyes, funny laugh, and our time we spent watching your silly soap operas and game shows. Most of all I will miss our simple talks and time shared. Mom I will love and miss you forever!

Mom -
I will forever cherish you. I enjoyed our 18 years together. Our pizza, movie and crocheting weekends were the best ever.

I love you Mom

I have so many memories that I will cherish forever, I'm so glad I got to spend so much time with you as a little girl. Having sleep overs at your house were the best. As I got older talking to you always made me feel better no matter what was going on, whether it was laughing, joking around or serious, no judgment just advice, loving, encouraging words. I am going to miss you soooooo much Grandma and I love you more then you'll ever know❤

We just heard of Liz’s passing and are so saddened. Liz rented our Loveland home for several years and was a lovely person. Her talents with crochet, love of her lab pups, hard work on the lawn, and kind heart all added to what an amazing person she was, no matter her age! We hope you have many wonderful memories to comfort you at this difficult time. We will always remember Liz with fondness.
