Emmy came into the world fast, giving the doctor just enough time to walk in the door and catch her for her arrival.
Emmy enjoyed spending every waking minute playing with her toys, shooting her Spidey webs, dancing and singing to her favorite songs and watching her favorite videos. She loved all things Spiderman, dinosaurs and Halloween themed, as well as her favorite snacks of bread and butter and dutch chocolate ice cream.
Shortly after her second birthday, Emmalyn was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, a common childhood cancer, and spent half of her life fighting this disease. She lived thirteen months in full remission before the disease came back mutated and chemo-resistant.
In her final days, Emmy spent her time video chatting her dogs, Mara & Luigi, going for walks, painting dinosaurs, watching her favorite videos, cuddling with her stuffies and Spidey blanket while keeping tabs on her big brother while listening to mom and dad read books.
Emmalyn passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23rd at 7:15 PM nestled between mom and dad.
Many referred to Emmalyn as bright, spicy and full of life.
Through her four and a half years on this Earth, Emmy inspired hundreds of people to take things as they come, stay strong and smile through the tough times.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate blood or make a donation in Emmalyn’s honor to the organizations that helped Emmalyn through treatment: Children’s Hospital Colorado, Brent’s Place, The Morgan Adams Foundation, & The B.A.B.Y. Foundation.
Celebration of Life services for Emmalyn will be announced in the coming weeks. Treasured memories and kind words for her family are welcome at resthavencolorado.com.
