Obey was born March 17th, 1942 in Dubuque, Iowa to Carl J. Oberhoffer and Marjorie (Piltz) Oberhoffer. He was raised in a large Catholic family with five brothers and two sisters.
As a youngster, he was an active boy scout with a passion for adventure. After High School, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northeast Missouri State College and pursued many different careers including teaching (PE & Drivers Education), working for Braniff airlines, and working in Europe.
He married Christine Ennis on August 15th, 1981 at John XXIII Catholic Church, and settled in Fort Collins, Colorado. Together, they raised two children.
During those 44 years he worked in Sales, Marketing and Management for four different companies, then built a commercial warehouse and owned and operated his own business for many years. After selling his business, he continued as a warehouse landlord until his death.
Obey's passion for travel and adventure throughout his lifetime enabled him to set foot on every continent but Antartica. He remained active in scouting with both children. The last 18 years of his life, he enjoyed traveling in his motor home through the United States, Canada, parts of Europe and Africa with his wife. He was an active member in Roadtrek International chapter of Family Recreational Vehicle Association among other organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Ennis); daughter, Ann (Dan) Duffek; son, Patrick Oberhoffer; grandson, Quinn Duffek; brothers, Russell, Thomas; sister, Shirley Schilling; as well as numerous nieces and nephews etc.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers; Carl, James, John; sister, Margaret Jones.
He will rest in peace at “Roselawn Cemetery” in the Garden of Remembrance, Fort Collins, Colorado.
