

Gary was born on September 11, 1940 to Melba and John Griff in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Gary graduated from Kemmerer High School in 1958. He attended Colorado Institute of Technology earning a diploma in Electrical Engineering before joining the Army in 1960 and served for 3 years.
In January 1964, he attended Utah State University and graduated in June 1969 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, and started his first and only job at Hughes Aircraft as an Electronics Engineer kickstarting a 30-year career. He moved to California with then wife, Carol, and children Roy, Debbie and Dena.
In 1990, Gary met Alice dancing, and they were married in 1995. In 1999, Gary retired and spent time with his family and friends, dancing and woodworking. In 2001, Alice and Gary moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and had their home built which included a section of the garage dedicated to woodworking. Gary’s hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and dancing. His love for woodworking was something he shared with his wife, daughter, granddaughters and his neighbors leaving a mark that will never fade.
Gary was predeceased by his mother, Melba; father, John; and sisters, Ann and Sharon. He is survived by his daughter, Dena; and his granddaughters, Colleen and Sarah; wife, Alice; son, Greg; step-daughter, Debbie; and step-son, Roy.
Gary will always be remembered as a kind, smart, dedicated husband, father and friend. We find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
