He was born on July 31, 1949 to Sally Ladine Kalaher and Edison Wayne McLeland in Denver, CO. Sally, Wayne, and Gary moved to Fort Collins when Gary was 9 years old. He graduated from Poudre High School in 1967 and Colorado State University in 1971 with a degree in Political Science. He worked at HP for many years as a buyer.
He married Jane Louise Johnson on June 25, 1988 in Fort Collins, CO. They have one daughter, Anna Sara McLeland (Phillip Adams). He is survived by grandsons Charlie and Ben, his beloved cousin Lorie Flatray, and many good friends.
Gary’s favorite hobbies included listening to music and watching all forms of auto racing. His favorite series was the IMSA Sportscar Championship. Gary enjoyed many road trips around Colorado and the American West with Janie and Anna.
There will be a celebration of his life later this summer, with more information available at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Victory Junction.
