George Leelan Riggs of Loveland, Colorado passed away on August 14, 2019 at the age of 84. He died in Fort Collins, Colorado in hospice care as a result of long-term degenerative health issues. For several years preceding his death, he was cared for by his wife in their home.

George was born in St. Marys, West Virginia on June 10, 1935, where he graduated from St. Marys High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army, was stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1957. George married Thelma Mae Goudy in 1963 in Sistersville, West Virginia. They had five children and were married for 55 years. During their life together, they lived in New Martinsville, West Virginia; Sistersville, West Virginia; Hendersonville, Tennessee; and most recently, Loveland, Colorado.

George was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He and Thelma were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on April 8, 1968, and their children were sealed to them.

George is survived by his wife, Thelma Mae Riggs of Loveland, Colorado and his five children: Lisa Ann Currey of Hermitage, Tennessee; Sherri Lynette (John) Hunter of Crown City, Ohio; Laura Gwen (Ray) Steele of Fort Collins, Colorado; David Aaron (Gwen) Riggs of Hendersonville, Tennessee; and Sara Elizabeth (Lee) Vaughn of Castalian Springs, Tennessee. George is preceded in death by his mother, Bertie Lorene Riggs.

George and Thelma have 12 grandchildren and 6 grandchildren through marriage. They also have 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren through marriage.

A private ceremony will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado.
