Gretchen Anne North

Gretchen passed away on March 28, 2024, and Bill passed away August 7, 2020. Gretchen was born in Seattle, Washington in 1933, and Bill in Portland, Oregon in 1932.

Gretchen and Bill met at Oregon State University, and then married in 1953. They had two children, Doug (1954 – 2021) and Melissa in 1957.

Bill served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, and then went to work for the Department of Agriculture in Oregon, Washington, and Colorado. Gretchen focused on raising both kids and then she worked as a receptionist for several doctors and hospices.

Gretchen and Bill loved spending time with each other, and their kids. They both enjoyed backpacking, packing with their llamas, camping, gardening, and traveling (especially Hawaii). They were both involved in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Gretchen enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and needlepoint.

Bill enjoyed jogging, exercising, working in the yard, reading to kids at Head Start, and tutoring children at Irish Elements.

Surviving is Melissa their daughter, and in addition to Gretchen’s parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bill and son Doug.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 2:00 PM on Saturday June 8, 2024. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St Paul’s Episcopal Church, or the Larimer County Food Bank.
