The son of Benjamin and Ethel Gubernick, Harris grew up alongside his older brother, Barry (Val), forming a bond that lasted a lifetime. In 1966, Harris made the best trade of his life—swapping his prom date for the love of his life, Gail. Their marriage became a beautiful partnership, filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Beth-Aynn (Christine) and Jon (Traci), creating a family rooted in love and togetherness.
Harris’ greatest joy was being “Pop Pop” to his beloved granddaughter, Elanah (Anthony), and later, he was blessed with two great-granddaughters, Amayah and Audemarah. His family was his pride and joy, and he found pure happiness in watching them grow.
After graduating from Miami Senior High School, Harris attended the University of Miami, initially pursuing a career as a PE teacher. But his true calling led him to the world of plants, where he became a healer of greenery, owning and operating his own plant nursery. Working side by side with Gail—and eventually bringing Jon into the family business—Harris cultivated more than just plants; he nurtured a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love.
When his granddaughter was born, Harris and Gail made the decision to sell the nursery and move to Colorado, soon followed by Beth-Aynn, reuniting the family once more. With the “Gube’s” whole again, Harris found peace in volunteer work with Kids Pak, in the mountains, and surrounded by those he loved most.
Harris will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, an adoring uncle, a loyal friend, and, at times, a foster dad to those who needed one. His legacy is one of love, kindness, and family, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
