Graduated University of Florida with Honors with a Bachelor of Geology degree and then attended Emory University where he received a Masters in Geology.
Howard served in the Army’s quartermaster corp between 1953 and 1955 and was stationed in the Marshall Islands during one of the hydrogen bomb tests.
Howard was a geophysicist in international petroleum exploration which including assignments in Italy, Pakistan and Syria and retired from Marathon Oil in the late 1980’s.
Howard always enjoyed being outdoors. His hobbies included water skiing, astronomy, hiking and photography.
After retirement, Howard volunteered in Rocky Mountain National Park in the backcountry office, he also delivered for Meals on Wheels.
Howard is survived by his wife Kathy, married 68 years, son Pete, daughter-in-law Mary, grandson Stephen. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sister, Jane Judge, and brother David, and son Jeffrey.
A private family service will be held later.
