Jack David Gallegos

Jack was born on February 25, 1946 to parents Perfecto "Pete" Gallegos and Estella "Stella" Sarah Gallegos. He grew up in Mead, Colorado, and attended Mead School during his early education. He later attended Longmont High School, before joining the United States Navy.

Jack served with the Navy from 1964 to 1967 aboard the USS Saint Paul during a tour to South Vietnam. He later earned an Exceptional Service Award for Heroism from the US Air Force on December 18, 1974.

After his time in the military, Jack worked with Beech AirCraft, and as well as Automation Industries, before joining the Longmont Fire Department. Jack worked as a Firefighter Engineer for 26 years in Longmont. On May 2, 1981, he received a Certificate of Participation by the International Society of Fire Service Instructors. He was also awarded two different Life Saving Awards- the first, in July of 1994, and again, in March of 1998.

Even outside of work, Jack was always happy to be able to give back to his community. In October of 1974, he was awarded a Certificate of Merit to honor his work coordinating the MS Telethon for the Longmont Community Fundraiser. He also received a Certificate of Merit for his volunteer work with children's art projects in July of 1981.

Jack was just as devoted to his family as he was the community. He met Kathleen Marie Clynes while serving with the Navy, and the two were married in Loveland on January 26, 1968. Together, Jack and Kathy raised two beautiful children, Shadd and Manddi, and today, those two children have added three loving grandchildren to the family.

Jack was preceded in passing by his parents, Pete and Stella. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Shadd Gallegos, of Berthoud, Colorado, and Manddi (Brandon) Chase, of Mead, Colorado; his three sweet grandchildren, Christian Chase, Garrett Chase, and Perfecto "Leo" Gallegos; sister-in-law Denise Clynes; his nieces, nephews, and cousins in Denver; and life-long friends Tom and Patricia Landolt. Jack leaves many fond memories with the family's many neighbors in their large and supportive community. The family would like to share their gratitude with all of Jack's caregivers from Visiting Angels and Bristol Hospice, as well as the staff with RNCR in Fort Collins, for the care and compassion they have shared.

A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at Grace Place, 375 Meadowlark Dr, Berthoud, CO 80513. The family would like to invite all of Jack's community to bring your favorite memories, and help us give a proud, final salute to a life extraordinarily well lived. A reception will follow.
