
James W. “ Jim” Miller, 60, of Fort Collins passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012 in Fort Collins. He was born on September 9, 1951 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Wes and Jean (Minter) Miller. Jim moved to Switzerland in 1963 at the age of 12 with his family, where his parents were Southern Baptist Missionaries. In 1969 Jim returned to the United States and met the love of his life Valorie Castle. He and Valorie were married on March 27, 1971 in Urbana , Illinois. In 1973 Jim and Val followed their dreams and headed west, settling at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.
Jim worked for 30 years as a Journeyman Pipe Fitter. He enjoyed camping and four wheeling and photography. Jim loved his dogs and was also a big NASCAR fan. He is survived by his son Rickey Miller of Fort Collins; his brother Ben Miller and wife Lois of Fort Collins, his sisters Joy Durham and husband Dale of Colorado Springs and Jen Miller of Fort Collins. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Valorie, his son Vance Wesley Miller and his niece DeAnna Marie Durham.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rickey Miller Memorial Fund in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S. Hwy. 287, Ft. Collins, CO. 80526.
