James Roberts

James Roberts, also known affectionately over the years as Jim, Dad, Grandpa, Honey, Jimbo, and Cleavon, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on July 24, 2026, following a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. He was 54 years old.

Born in Aurora, Colorado, on July 17, 1972, to Kenna and Will, Jim spent part of his early childhood exploring Alaska, and then Wyoming, before returning to Colorado. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1990, where he was involved in FFA and the newspaper club, and later attended Front Range Community College.

Jim was never one to fit into a neat little box, and he proudly marched to the beat of his own drum. His early career spanned from slinging pizzas at Little Caesars to painting, before finding his professional home at King Soopers, where he dedicated 24 years as a General Manager. Beyond work, he stayed involved in his community through his local HOA, always keeping an eye on the neighborhood during his frequent daily walks.

On October 29, 1998, Jim married the love of his life, Gina Marie Dardano, in Westminster, Colorado. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family, laughter, and endless adventure. Together, Jim and Gina would raise three smart, beautiful, and strong girls: Christa, Valerie, and Lonna.

To say Jim had varied passions would be an understatement. He was an avid fan of hard rock music and spent hours playing bass guitar, delving into comic books, diving into Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, writing poetry, and catching every Marvel movie on the big screen. A die-hard Colorado Avalanche fan, he loved hockey both on the screen and in the rink, and could often be found skiing as a child, golfing, or fishing at the lake. Some of Jim's favorite places to travel include the family fishing trips to Lake Texoma, as well as the trips to South Dakota, Alabama, Florida, or Steamboat Springs for softball tournaments with Valerie and Lonna. But above all, his favorite place in the world was Estes Park every summer, reminiscing about childhood camping trips with his grandparents and making new memories with his own family.

Jim was deeply devoted to his three daughters, never missing a chance to watch them play sports, especially hockey and softball. Later in life, his role as "Grandpa" became one of his absolute greatest joys.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Gina Dardano-Roberts of Thornton, CO; his daughters, Christa Dardano of Thornton, CO, Valerie Roberts-Holloway and her spouse, Matthew Holloway of Brighton, CO, and Lonna Roberts of Thornton, CO; and his treasured four grandchildren, Kayden Holloway, Greyson Holloway, Payton Holloway, and Madilyn Holloway.

He Was Survived By His Parents Kenna And Tom Gooras, Will And Sandy Roberts. His In Laws Bill And Sandy Dardano. His Brother And Sister In Law Tony And Dixie Roberts. His Sister In Law And Her Family The Coffman's. Many loved cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A Celebration of Life will take place this Friday at the Drake Chapel of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 West Drake Road in Fort Collins. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the Funeral Service will begin at Noon. A Committal Service at 1:30 PM is set at Grandview Cemetery, 1900 West Mountain Avenue, Fort Collins.
