Jeannette Lois Strong

Jeannette Lois (Staton) Strong was born May 6, 1931 in Lexington, KY and passed away April 2, 2021 in Loveland, CO. Jeannette was the daughter of Edward B. and Hazel Poe Staton. She graduated from Lafayette High School in Lexington, class of 1949. She attended the University of Kentucky for one year. Following, she was employed by the FBI in Washington D.C. from 1951 to 1955.

Jeannette married Earle L. Strong on September 14, 1952 in Lexington, KY. The two of them were married for 68 wonderful years. They were the parents of two daughters, Pamela Sue and Kathryn Lynn and 4 grandchildren.

Jeannette also worked as a hostess at Welcome Wagon in Manchester, IA from 1977-1979 and the Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson, WI from 1988-1994. She was active in many charities and spent much of her time doing volunteer work throughout her life. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for 20 years. She was the Campfire Girls Leader in Monticello, IA. Jeannette was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary in Manchester, IA and volunteered at nursing homes in several cities in which she lived and was a member of U.M.W. and Ladies Aid. She was also a board member of the American Cancer Society in Jefferson, WI.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Sue (John) Nylander; and sister, Eva Staton Bryant. She is survived by her husband, Earle Strong; daughter, Kathryn Lynn (Shane) Bergo and grandchildren, Brittany Nylander, Evan Bergo, Kyle Bergo, and Lars Bergo.

Jeannette had a heart of gold and exuded kindness wherever she lived. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Jeanette was a sweet soul. When they lived in Elgin Kira and Joe were small and she always welcomed them as a 3rd grandmother. They lived by the park and she was always welcomed them for a drink and or cookie
