Jerry was a loved uncle, and our family will miss him. He was the last son of Alex and Virginia Gallegos, of Fort Collins, Colorado. Jerry was in the second graduating class from Poudre High School in 1966. He served our nation during the Vietnam War, and was assigned to the 339th Engineering Battalion out of Fort Lewis, Washington. After his military service, Jerry attended the Denver Institute of Art. His lifelong passion for art lead to the creation of many beautiful drawings and art pieces- Jerry was the happiest when involved in any art project. Our uncle also loved new cars, spending time in the mountains, and family gatherings. He retired after 23 years from Woodward Governor.
Jerry is survived by his sister Beatrice Tacoronte, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings, and his beloved bearded dragons Chico and Chica.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the compassionate care from Dr. Tyler Abbey and the VA staff, Brookdale North Loveland, Fort Collins Columbine West, and Northern Colorado Pathways Hospice.
Services are in the care of Allnutt Fort Collins. A rosary will begin at 9:30am, followed by a Funeral Rite Outside of Mass at 10:00am at the Drake Chapel, 650 W Drake Road. A committal at Roselawn Cemetery with Military Honors will follow at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jerry's memory to Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado, or to NoCo Humane (formerly Larimer County Humane).
"So I ran the race empowered by His grace and I give Him all the glory as I look into His face."
Rest in peace, Jerry.
