Born in Medford, Massachusetts, Joseph grew up in a large and lively Italian family alongside his six brothers and two sisters. The strong family values and sense of loyalty he learned growing up would guide him throughout his life.
In 1951, Joseph answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. During his early years of service, while stationed at Brize Norton Air Force Base in England, he met the love of his life, Judy. Their meeting began a lifelong partnership built on devotion, adventure, and unwavering support for one another.
Joseph proudly served 25 years in the Air Force, traveling the world and dedicating himself to his country. Through hard work, leadership, and commitment, he rose through the ranks to become a Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt, E-8), a testament to the respect he earned from those who served alongside him.
After retiring from military service, Joseph continued contributing to his community by working for 20 years at Cape Cod Hospital. His strong work ethic and caring nature made him a valued colleague and friend.
In retirement, Joseph and Judy embraced the joy of travel. They spent many happy years cruising and exploring the country together in their RV, creating memories and enjoying the freedom of the open road.
His most meaningful trip was with Judy, Christine, and Dianne, to Martina Franca, where his parents were born. They visited ancient trulli houses, attended Mass at the Basilica di San Martino, where his parents were baptized, and last – but not least – the stop sign in the middle of nowhere Sicily. Joe loved good food, skiing, softball, coffee with buddies, and the Patriots. They moved to Colorado in 2002 and joined their growing family: five beautiful and much-loved granddaughters and 14 great-grandchildren. They had wonderful friends and neighbors.
Joe will be missed for his great sense of humor, his broad Boston accent, and his funny stories about a lifetime of adventure and misadventures. We love and miss you so much, Joe, dad, papa.
A Visitation & Rosary will take place on Monday, March 23rd, 2026 from 5pm - 7pm at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Rosary will be prayed at 6pm. Joe's Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Tuesday, March 24th, 2026 at 10am at St. John's Catholic Church in Loveland.
