Jose was born on August 17, 1946 to Juanita and Fermin Maes in New Mexico. The family moved to Fort Collins and he graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1964 and went on to attend Sterling Junior College.
Jose farmed with his dad until he joined the United States Army and served during Vietnam. After returning he worked at Shakeys Pizza and numerous other jobs.
In his free time Jose enjoyed shopping at thrift stores and Walmart. He loved animals – especially cats and dogs, old school video games and western music.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Juanita.
He is survived by his children Penny, Tracy and Gabe; three sisters Nancy Maes, Marge Maes and Angie Duran; many grandchildren; his nieces and nephews Shirley, Miguel and Joey Rodriguez and his pets Oreo Grilla, Piper and Favio.
At Joses request no services will be held. Cremation entrusted to Resthaven Funeral Home and Memory Gardens.
