Joy Wicks

Joy was a fiercely devoted mother and grandmother, a beloved sister, and a dear friend. She will be remembered for her unwavering individuality, innate sense of style, and the unconditional love she had for her family.

Joy made her grand entrance at St. Mary’s Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin, on April 10th, 1951. Right in the middle of a family of eight, Joy was the daughter of the late Norbert and Marian (Hall) Skrzypchak. She and her siblings grew up on the family farm in Cassel, Wisconsin, while attending school in Marathon, Wisconsin, where she finished high school.

In 1995, after a whole lot of life in between, Northern Colorado became Joy’s home. She quickly established deep roots and created a full and vibrant life surrounded by cherished friends and family. Joy was defined by tenacity, drive, and an unshakeable dedication to providing a wonderful life for her three sons. Professionally, she built a successful career as a real estate agent, serving her community with energy, dedication, and heart.

Glamorous, stylish, and full of zest, Joy was known for her love of fashion and her incredible ability to live "young" well into her seventies. She was always on the move—whether she was out dancing, playing volleyball or pickleball, jogging with her dog, tending to her yard, or enjoying music. Joy loved nothing more than bringing people together, filling every gathering with laughter, warmth, and, well – joy.

To say that Joy will be missed just doesn’t quite cover it. Truly one of a kind, Joy was so much larger than life. She defined what it means to live a life true to one’s self and to live a full and meaningful life. Though the void she leaves can never truly be filled, her memory can be honored by laughing out loud, dancing like no one is watching, making bold fashion choices, and trying every day to be the most genuine version of yourself.

Joy’s legacy of life, love, and laughter carries on in the lives of her three loving sons: Ricky Wicks, Jordan Wicks (Tara), and Jamison Wicks; and the grandchildren she loved more than life itself: Tanner Wicks and Reilynn Wicks. She is also survived by her dear siblings and their families: Gene & Carole Gregerson, James & Jenny Skrzypchak, Kathleen Skrzypchak, Allan Skrzypchak, David & Barbara Robbins, Bill & Jenny Skrzypchak, and Brian Skrzypchak; as well as many extended family members and close friends.

A Celebration of Joy's Life will be held on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026 at 2pm at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins.
