Keith “Kasey” Gallagher went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2017 after a courageous battle with COPD. Born May 31, 1943 to Arnold and Lucille Gallagher in Carroll, Iowa, Kasey grew up in the rural town of Manilla, Iowa. He graduated from Manilla High School in 1961 and immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. After attending boot camp at San Diego, California, he was stationed at Camp Pendleton. He became a tank operator serving in Okinawa, Japan until 1964. He remained a loyal Marine throughout his life, actively supporting veterans as a proud American. In 1965, he met his future bride, Lorraine Faust. They were married on August 5, 1967. Always a risk taker, Kasey and Lorraine relocated their family to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1969, where they made their home.
Kasey had a passion for work. He began plumbing at the age of 14, eventually owning three plumbing companies over his lifetime: Gallagher Plumbing (1972-1975), G&S Plumbing (1976-1977), and Kahar Plumbing & Heating, Inc. (1983-present). He was always respected for his business ethics. The confident sound of Kasey’s boots against the pavement are remembered by many. Kasey’s employees, as well as others who worked with him knew that he would speak his mind. However, those who worked most closely to him recognized his care for people and abundant generosity towards others.
On top of his profession, Kasey had many other areas of interest. Throughout his life, he always had a weekend project going – frequently uniting family and friends to create everlasting memories. He also enjoyed fishing, collecting guns and coins, and was enthusiastic about horses. He was a loyal Ford man. Kasey forever enjoyed patronizing restaurants to grab a bite to eat and visit with friends. He was known to venture to a nearby casino to test his luck loading up the slots. No matter where he went, Kasey always had a way of taking new acquaintances and creating lifelong relationships. Kasey’s smile and sense of humor could light up any room. He valued relationships and was committed to those whom he called friends. He cherished connections with others, especially phone calls from his little “partner” CJ.
More than anything else, quality family time was important to Kasey. Whether it was cooking a hearty Sunday breakfast after church or cheering on the Broncos as a family, he always loved getting his family together. He cherished two trips recently to visit Spring Training in Arizona with his family. Kasey and Lorraine were fortunate enough to travel over the past few years visiting family and seeing new parts of the country. In addition, he loved following his grandkids’ activities through school and church and treasured living close to his children and grandchildren.
Kasey is survived by his wife Lorraine, two sons, Jeff (Donna) and Jay (Jill), five grandchildren (Andrew, Jakeb, Benjamin, Sara and Mandi), sister Karen (Bob) Kloewer, brother Kevin Gallagher, sister-in-law Dorothy Faust, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Lucille Gallagher; brother, Kenneth Gallagher; brother-in-law Larry Faust and extended relatives and friends.
