Ken was born on November 23, 1921 in Davenport, Iowa, to Elsie and William Osborn. His sisters, Mary Ann, Patricia, and Betty preceded him in death. He joined the Army in 1942 and served with the Timberwolves of the 104th Division Reconnaissance Troop in Europe. Ken was a lead jeep machine gunner, and was honorably discharged from the service in 1945. Ken was proud to be a WWII Army Veteran, and we are honored by his service to our country.
Ken married the love of his life, Esther L. Lottich, on August 9, 1952. They shared sixty-six years of marriage, and were only separated by his passing. The couple have two children, Susan Topolski (Chris) and David Osborn (Terry) who have been blessed to have both parents in their lives for so many years.
Ken and Esther have been amazing grandparents to Susan’s three children, Dan, Kristina, and Jeff, and moved from Nebraska to Colorado to be close to the family. Ken enjoyed teaching the grand kids about computers, golfing, and playing pool, and was always present for the grandkids’ band concerts, musical performances, and other activities. Ken’s children and grandchildren could always count on his sense of humor, his quiet words of wisdom, his help with math homework, and knowing how proud he was of them.
Ken loved working with numbers, and was an agent for the Internal Revenue Service from 1951 to 1958 in Waterloo, Iowa. He went on to become an Appeals Officer for the IRS in Omaha, Nebraska, until his retirement in 1978. In recent years he also served as the treasurer for the Victorian Gables neighborhood Homeowners Association in Fort Collins, Colorado, until 2016.
Ken is survived by his wife, Esther, his daughter, Susan, his son, David, and his three grandchildren. He lived a long and fulfilling life, and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandpa. His smile, sense of humor, and sparkling blue eyes will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.
Flowers are welcome, as are donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, www.stjudes.org in honor of Ken Osborn.
