

Leonard was born on May 9, 1928 to Wilber and Emma (Mauser) Everett in Big Springs, Nebraska. The family moved to Fort Collins in 1939, where he graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1945. After graduation, he joined the Merchant Marines and later the Coast Guard, and was honorably discharged in 1947.
Leonard married Florence Rothman on April 7, 1947 at the First Methodist Church in Fort Collins. They lived in Denver, while he attended Honeywell Air Conditioning School; they then relocated to California, where he worked for North American Aircraft. They returned to Colorado where he worked for Forney Industries for 8 years, and later ended his career with Public Service Co. in Fort Collins after 26 years.
Leonard and Florence had 3 children: Jim Everett and Sue of Plant City, FL; Jack Everett and Reon of Fort Collins and Cindy and Roger Garling of Loveland, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Leonard loved to be outdoors in the mountains, where the family loved to camp together. They loved to travel, especially going to Arizona in the winters after they retired. Leonard and Florence were very active in several travel clubs, including the Summer Bummers Good Samaritan Club. He also enjoyed working on their family genealogy.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Loyd.
A Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm, Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, October 24, 2011 also at Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens.
