I am Leroy's niece, his oldest brother's (Gerard-Edith) daughter. The world will never be the same, we have lost a great one! These words immediately come to my heart, OPTIMIST, ENTHUSIAST AND ADVENTURIST! We moved to Colorado 35 years ago to work with and learn from the best! Thank you Uncle Leroy for all of your wisdom, teaching and love.
As little children, we would come to Loveland with our parents each Summer. Leroy and Arlene and our cousins would welcome us, and treat us to great adventures. We did it all, Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Garden of the Gods, Elitch's and Water World to name a few. Thank you for your generosity & kindnesses; we remember these times very fondly. What a wonderful foundation that has created.
I will always remember that big genuine smile, those sparkling eyes--filled with much joy, and a little tad of mischief too! You are gone much too soon my dear uncle, there will always be a void. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer stated, GOD DOESN'T FILL IT, BUT ON THE CONTRARY, KEEPS IT EMPTY AND SO HELPS US TO KEEP ALIVE OUR FORMER COMMUNION WITH EACH OTHER, EVEN AT THE COST OF PAIN.
We will keep you alive in our hearts forever, we will hold you near always, you have changed and enhanced so many peoples' lives. Arlene and family, thank you for the time together this past week; being together is such a gift always. We are stronger together and can lean on one another. Rest in peace my sweet uncle, gone and never ever forgotten. Much love, Linda

Leroy was an important part of my childhood. He was there for all the major steps in my life. I will always hold dear to my heart when he stepped in to dance the father of the Bride dance with me at my wedding. Even though we haven't seen much of each other in recent years, he and Arlene have never left my heart.

I will miss my grandpa dearly. There are so many more memories from childhood that are special. My fondest memories of him are with my wedding. We got a dance lesson from him and grandma in their kitchen. I might not have been the best but he never let me quit even if I messed up. On my wedding day I enjoyed watching him dance, as usual he was the life of the party! It didn’t stop there; Edgar and I got to share our honeymoon with my grandparents in Las Vegas. I enjoyed one of the many things he loved to do which was gambling with him. I thank him for everything he has done for me over the years and I will never forget him. I know his great grandchild, Xzavier, will not get to experience as many memories with him but what he did get to experience with him I know Xzavier loved. Grandpa thought he was the most handsome baby and he would always play cars with him. I will never let Xzavier forget you grandpa. We love you and will see you again one day.

Arlene, Ron, Michele, Todd and Gabriel and Schweitzer Families
We send our heartfelt condolences to all of you. Leroy and Arlene have been such a special part of our lives. I was there when Arlene and Leroy met at St. Mary’s CYO in Aberdeen, SD. I was maid of honor at their wedding and am Ron’s Godmother . Their love and caring for one another was the model for Bob and my marriage of almost 50 years. Leroy and Arlene moved to Loveland and Bob and I moved to Stuart, IA. We didn’t get to see one another very often but when we did it seemed like time stood still. Last year they were such a great support through my health trials and sent a huge bouquet of flowers to Aberdeen for my mother’s 100th birthday. Leroy will be so missed by all of us. May God rain down special blessings on all of you during this difficult time.

Leroy was more than a brother. He was such a joy to be around. Always with that big smile, laugh and great personality, he was one of the kindest men on Earth. He was the leader of his family and siblings. Always there to lend a helping hand, we all respected him and would seek his advice. I'm so proud to call him my brother. I miss you so much and will see you again another time, another place. Rest in peace.
