

Leroy Sass of Loveland passed away on May 14, 2009 at North Colorado Medical Center Hospice Unit in Greeley. He was born March 2, 1920 in Ida County, IA to Emil and Louise (Ehler) Sass. On September 29, 1946, he married Ruby Bielfeldt in Denison, IA. Leroy and Ruby started out farming in 1947 in Ida Grove, IA. In 1966, Leroy and Ruby owned and operated Gold Key Motel and Dining Room in Hampton, IA, until retiring in 1974 and moving to Loveland. After retirement, Leroy was a rental landlord.He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, IA, and was also a member of Kiwanis there. Leroy enjoyed gardening, dancing, and hiking. He truly enjoyed his roses. Leroy took up skiing at the age of 62.He is survived by his wife, Ruby Sass of Loveland; a son, Richard L. Sass (Deb Campman) of Sheffield, IA; daughters, Kathleen Ruth (Manuel) Naranjo of Greeley; Joleen Ruby (Michael) Becvar of Fort Collins; and Teresa Louise (Quentin) Jackson of Loveland; a sister, Darlene (Ivan) Auen of Odebolt, IA; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and another one on the way, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.A gathering of family and friends will be held 2:00 â?? 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memory Gardens, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loveland.
