

LeRoy ""Roy"" Everett Shotwell, 84, of Fort Collins, went to be with his Lord on March 24, 2010 after a series of illnesses.LeRoy was born on July 29, 1925, in Haig, NE to Alice and Everett Shotwell. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on an Armed Guard Tanker, carrying High Octane fuel for the airplanes. He served in five different War Zones and was proud to have given this service to his Country.LeRoy married Dorothy Mann on January 9, 1948 in Kearney, NE. They had three children, Kathy, Mary, and Rob. They have lived in Fort Collins since 1957.Roy worked at Woodward Governor for 9 years and at Teledyne Water Pic for 17 years, taking a disability retirement in 1982.He was a member of the American Baptist Church in Fort Collins for 52 years. LeRoy loved his Church and served on nearly every board, and as Church School Teacher.He loved the out of doors and the mountains, enjoying camping with family and friends.LeRoy is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Kathy (Richard) Struck of Fort Lupton, Mary Schumm (Tom Hiskett) of Pierce, and Rob (Laura) Shotwell of Loveland; two granddaughters, Tracey of Davenport, IA and Darcey of Arvada; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Ziegenhagen and Beth Joder of Fort Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Service Celebration of his life will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the American Baptist Church, 600 S. Shields in Fort Collins. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens.
