Lilly Lumb passed away on May 30th, 2021. Lilly was born in Breviks, Skaraborgs, Sweden, January 4, l923 to Linder and Inez Carlson. She came to the United States with her family in 1928 and they settled in Manchester, CT. She moved to Boston in the fall of 1945 where she worked for Arthur D. Little a research corporation. It was in Boston that she met her future husband, William (Bill) V. Lumb, at a party at MIT. He was a veterinarian with the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital.
They were married in College Station, TX in June of 1949. They moved to Fort Collins in 1954 where Bill was with the College of Veterinary Medicine. Their son, John William Lumb was born in 1955. In 1958 they moved to East Lansing, MI for two years, returning to Fort Collins in 1960 where they lived since.
She spent much of her married life supporting her husband’s career, typing theses, books, papers, and his notes, and accompanying him to professional meetings.
She enjoyed fishing, hiking, skiing, bridge, gardening. She and her husband were avid travelers and toured on several continents. They also traveled throughout the United Stated in their motor home and attended 24 Elderhostels across the country. She is survived by one son, John W. Lumb, and two grandsons, Garth W. Lumb, and Grant C. Lumb all of Fort Collins, Colorado. At her request no formal service is planned. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date where her ashes will be spread on Independence Mountain in North park.
