Lois Mae Bane

Lois was born June 16, 1924 on a farm near Roland, Iowa to Edward B. and Hannah Guvina (Logan) Christian. She was the fifth of six children born to this union. She graduated from Roland High School and the University of Nebraska (Omaha) with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and then a Master‘s degree in Education from the University of Nebraska (Lincoln). Lois previously resided in Ralston and Grand Island, Nebraska and Apple Valley, Minnesota.

Lois married Charles A. Bane on August 17, 1947 at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa and to this union three children were born. Lois was a beloved Kindergarten teacher at Betz Elementary in Bellevue, Nebraska for 25-years.

Lois was always there for her family. No matter what, they knew she would be there, encouraging them through the hard times and sharing in the joy of family celebrations. Everything was better because she was a great Mom, Grand Mother, Sister and Aunt. She was a wonderful blessing that no one can replace. She wanted each one of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to grow up to be happy, healthy, successful adults, and she laid the foundation for this. Lois was active in the Messiah Lutheran Church in Ralston, Nebraska. She loved music and playing bridge and following sports – especially Cornhusker Football.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles on October 12, 2011 and was the last surviving child of Edward and Hannah Christian. She is survived by Sons, Steven C. (Mary Sue) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Fort Collins, Colorado; Craig A. (Deanna) Bane, Apple Valley, Minnesota; Daughter, Deborah E. (David) Farrand, Springfield, Virginia; Grandchildren, Christopher (Tonya) Bane, Cynthia (Damon) Gage, Catherine (John) Helwic, Stuart (Camilla) Farrand, Sarah (Erik) Olson, Christian Bane, Alexandra Bane. Great Grandchildren, Kelsey Gage, Makayla Gage, Zoe Bane, Jacqueline Helwic, Nolan Helwic, Brendan Helwic, Logan Bane, Reed Farrand and Silja Olson

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fox Meadows Assisted Living, Fort Collins, Colorado the Salem Lutheran Church, Roland Iowa or the Messiah Lutheran Church, Ralston, Nebraska.
