Lois Koenig Stott passed away on April 12, 2013, at age 84. Lois Jean Koenig was born in Loveland, CO on April 25, 1928. She was raised in Northern Colorado, mostly up on the Little South Fork of the Poudre River. She graduated from Loveland High School in June 1946 and attended Colorado State College of Education (now called University of Northern Colorado) in Greeley. She met Charles Stott at college and they married in October of 1947. They settled in the Park Hill neighborhood in Denver, where she lived until 2004. They had six children. From 1973 to 1988, Lois worked as the Executive Housekeeper for four hotels in Denver: The Cosmopolitan Hotel / Westin International Hotels, the Cherry Creek Inn, Howard Johnson’s and the Regency Inn. Over the years Lois was an active volunteer for and donor to a number of organizations, including: Mile High Girl Scouts, P.T.A. for Park Hill Elementary and Gove Junior High, Women’s Bean Project, D.P.S. Tutoring Program at Hallett Elementary, D.P.S. Summer Scholars, Commerce City Recreation Center, and Park Hill Congregational Church. Lois’ husband, Chuck, passed way in 1992. Lois is survived by her 6 children, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and her brother: daughter Linda Skinner (Joe) and their children Amber, Jessica and Tobias; daughter Julie Stott; daughter Carol St. Jean; son William (Sue) and their children Brandi with great grand-daughter Jordan Sever, Daniel (Lacey), and Michael (Jennifer) with great grand-sons Matthew and Joey; son Samuel (Martha) and his daughter Lyric; son Andrew and his children Heaven, Hunter, Logan and Nathaniel; and her brother Ramon Lee Koenig (Inez) from Chico, CA. A memorial service for Lois will be held at the Park Hill Congregational Church, where she was a long-time member, on Thursday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to DPS Summer Scholars Program at www.summerscholars.org or the Alzheimer’s Association at http://www.alz.org/index.asp.
