

Phil Grondin of Loveland passed away July 6, 2015 at Pathways Hospice at McKee Medical Center among family and friends. Phil was born June 30, 1949 in Lewiston, Maine. He grew up in southern California and graduated from Venice High School and Santa Monica City College where he earned a Certificate of Printing Technology. He served in the US Air Force and was stationed at Lakenheath AFB in England. Phil was a proud member of the VFW, American Legion, and DAV in Loveland. He served as a member of the Honor Guard and Chaplain for many years. Phil was an artist and enjoyed enjoyed painting and sketching. He loved reading, Bible study, and music. He had an extensive music collection and knew the words to every Beatles song! When playing Trivial Pursuit, you always wanted him on your team! His favorite pastime was drinking iced tea with his friends at a local restaurant. After many years of bachelorhood, he met and married the love of his life, Virginia Harris and they married on August 7, 2004 in Loveland. Gin is also an artist and they were definitely soul mates! He was the family historian and had family photos dating back to 1900. He remembered everyone’s birthday and sent a card for as long as he was able. He was very fond of his nieces and nephews. Phil is survived by his wife Virginia; sisters Cheryl (Frank)Ryan, Michele (Evelyn) Ransom, brother Reginald (Stephanie) Grondin; nephews Joe (Paea) Hughes and Eric (Olga) Hughes; nieces Tina Ryan, Nicole (Nick) George, Amy (Todd) Nishi; Grand nieces Jessica Ryan, Savannah Hughes, and Yulia Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents Reginald and Lauri Grondin and nephew Patrick Ryan. Viewing will be from 4 – 6 pm Sunday, July 12 at Resthaven Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland at 10 am Monday, July 13. Burial and reception follows immediately at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation in Phil’s memory to Pathways Hospice of Larimer County, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or Humane Society of Larimer County.
