Lyle Clouse Van Horn passed away peacefully on September 19, 2018 at the age of 82. He was surrounded by the Lord and loved ones. Lyle had a passion for life and will be missed by so many who knew him. Lyle is a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, Bellvue, Colorado.
Lyle was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Carl E. and Loveta (Clouse)Van Horn September 14, 1936. Lyle grew up in Fort Wayne and attended South Side High. After graduation in 1954, he enlisted in the US Air Force. Lyle was then transferred to Lowery Air Force base in Denver where he met his wife, Connie Rothe. They married in 1961 and moved to Ventura, California. Lyle was stationed at Oxnard Air Force base and worked on the F-101B VOODOO fighters. After his discharge from the service, Lyle returned to Colorado with his wife and son, Quinn where they later became a family of four with the birth of their second son, Tim.
Lyle was employed by Western Electric, AT&T, and retired from Lucent Technology. Lyle had a gift with electronics and started a computer business. In high school he was the trumpet player for a small band. His love of westerns followed him throughout his life. He was an avid hunter, taking his sons on hunting and fishing trips, loved sports, coached little league baseball. Lyle participated and won awards at silhouette gun shoots.
Lyle and Connie then became snowbirds and took off in the winter months and enjoyed the warmth of the desert in Arizona. They were members of the Colorado Excel 5th wheel club for many years.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 57 years Connie, 2 sons, Quinn (Jenny) and Tim of LaPorte. Two sisters, Phyllis Klecka of Fort Wayne, Carol (Dave) Cummings of Decatur, Indiana, Two step granddaughters, Jessica (Tye) Xinos of Virginia and Holly (Blair) Berg of Philippines. Four step great grandchildren, Gage, Dylan, Emely and Lucille and many nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by sisters, Lucy Van Horn Nelson and Leila Ruth Van Horn.
A viewing for Lyle will be Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Resthaven Funeral Home starting at 12:30. The funeral follows at 1:30. Graveside services with military honors will be held after funeral service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Pathways Hospice Care, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525 in memory of Lyle.
