He graduated from high school in 1947 and after having worked on the railroad and attended Carbon Junior College, at Utah State University, he found both his calling in agronomy and the love of his life, Ann Woodward.
They were married in the LDS Logan temple June 10, 1954. He earned his PhD at North Carolina State University. He spent his professional career with the Department of Agriculture in Fort Collins, Colorado, focusing on nitrogen fixation in plants.
Lynn was a quiet steady generous husband, father, and neighbor who loved and served his family, friends, neighbors, and church. He loved to garden, fish, build, read, learn, solve problems. He didn’t speak ill of anyone, and chose always to “make it a good day”.
He is survived by his four children: Dan Porter (Lydia), Ruth Ann Everett (Randy), Carol Fry (Richard), and Ron Porter (Kari), along with fifteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved Ann, his parents, and his siblings.
He left his good long mortal life September 15, 2026, at 97 years old.
