Known to most as "Marge", she was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on January 21, 1928 to Clay & Margaret Selby. She grew up on a farm near Woodrow, Colorado. Following high school, she moved to Fairplay to teach and met her future husband there. After her marriage, she worked as a travel agent, which afforded her many opportunities to see the world.
On October 3, 1948, she married Gene B. Jacobs in Brush, Colorado. They lived in various places during the first years of their marriage due to Gene's military service. They moved to Fort Collins in the early 1950s, then to Loveland, and back to Fort Collins. They were blessed with two daughters, Susan and Kathy, and had celebrated nearly 68 years of marriage at the time of Gene's passing in 2016.
Marge was an avid reader and puzzler. She came to enjoy jigsaw puzzles in her later years, and she & Kathy spent many, many hours working on them together. She enjoyed the quiet comforts of home and spending time with her family. She loved taking care of her own mother and looking after her granddaughter. Beloved as a wife, mom, grandma and aunt, Marge was treasured by her family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Schwasinger and son-in-law Rod Schwasinger, and daughter Kathy Jacobs; grandson Matthew Schwasinger and granddaughter Regina Jacobs; and by her sister June Haller; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband Gene, she is preceded in death by her brothers Robert Selby and Roger Selby, and by her sister Betty Morman.
A Memorial Service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11am, after which she will be placed to rest with Gene. Please join the family for light refreshments after the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or to a charity of choice. Memories of Marge and words of condolence for her family are welcome at resthavencolorado.com
