Marion Angela Flerx, 92, of Bucks County Pennsylvania went to be with her Lord on June 16, 2020. She passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter by her side under the Colorado Rocky Mountain sky. Born in Bristol, she was the eldest daughter of the late Minnie and Samuel Ferraro. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Flerx whom she was married to for 39 years until his passing in 2011.
She was predeceased by her parents Minnie and Sam Ferraro, her beloved son Marshall “Marty” Schwartz, her brother Sammy Ferraro, her sister-in-law Patricia Ferraro, her son-in-law Joseph “Butch” Buccello and her much loved four -legged Baby.
Marion attended Saint Ann’s School and Church. She was a beautiful and free -spirited young woman. She went to New York and Philadelphia to pursue her dream of dance in spite of the expectations of the time. She had strong Christian faith which she passed onto her children. She was a champion for the underdog and always spoke up for injustice.
A mother to four children, family was a priority for her. She loved her children more than anything. She gave them love, faith and each other. (Thank you Mommy). She made each of us feel special and called us “My Michael, My Marianne, My Marty, My Maria “. She was the first one there in a crisis and the first to call if someone was ill or to offer congratulations. She made every holiday wonderful, never forgot to send a special card for a life event covered in special stickers and she will forever be remembered for wrapping presents with so much tape we could never open them. One always looked for her special birthday call where she would sing Happy Birthday in her most beautiful voice. (We will all miss this so much).
Marion worked at Pathmark supermarket for over 30 years and was the front end manager. She was also the Union Shop Steward, defending the interests of her fellow workers. Upon retirement, Marion and Tom realized their dream of moving to Florida. She became active in their new church become a lector on Sunday mornings, volunteered at the local hospital and made many friends. After a few years she decided to return to work and became a security scanner at Melbourne Airport where she was recognized and honored for finding a gun. After Tom’s passing, she returned to Pennsylvania and resided with her daughter and son-in-law for seven years. During the last two years of her life she was in Colorado with her youngest daughter.
A lover of people, Marion touched so many lives and made friends wherever she went. She was thoughtful and loved giving gifts to everyone. Even the bank tellers could count on receiving a Christmas gift from her. Marion never lost her zest for life and was a fun- loving woman who joked and laughed and loved a good time. You could find her dancing, doing the Boom-Boom dance even when she used a walker, always fashionable, she took great pride in her appearance and could always be found with her nails polished, wearing lots of jewelry and fabulous sunglasses. She loved to read the newspaper every day. She loved animals, fashion, jewelry, music, dancing, reading, Gone with the Wind, the casino, horror movies, all holidays and good food. She loved being outside and enjoyed sitting in her sons’ gazebo. She was a sponge soaking up every bit life offered. She was an exceptionally beautiful woman inside and out.
Surviving are her children, Marianne Buccello of Warminster PA, Michael (Toni) Schwartz of Yardley PA, Maria (Steve) Kirschner of Fort Collins CO; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A quote from one of Marion’s last journal entries “I must say it’s wonderful being Marion Flerx. I love holidays, all holidays and I love to dance. To dance forever. “
We love you Mommy and will miss you every day. Dance for joy with your Lord and loved ones who greeted you at the gates of Heaven.
