I know that I was not the best of friends with Mark. But we hung out a few times, and felt something for each other. He was one of the most fun people to be around, and I was completely shocked. I cannot believe it even today. I know ""I'm sorry"" are empty words because after you hear it so many times, it loses sincerity. I cannot imagine what Mark's family has to go through. I don't know what else to say except I appreciated his friendship and hope you can get through this year. Thank you.

Mark was a good friend to me even though i havent seen him in awhile i miss him. im sorry for your loss of mark he was such a good kid. i wouold love to talk to his parents again. i just found out yesterday about mark, i just got out of rehab and found out it devastated me to find that out. with much love from me and my family who really liked mark. rest in peace.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Although I never had the privilege to meet Mark I have been a close friend with his grandmother and his aunt Amy for several years.  If Mark had any of his Grandma's and aunt's characteristics and he probably did, he must have been quite a young man. and I feel a loss for not knowing him. Mark and our son Kyle Kohn had been friends since elementary school. Mark was always a joy to be around and had a great sense of humor. I am a stranger to Mark, but a friend of Caitlin McKinley.  I want to express my sincere sorrow at the loss of your young son Mark. I was so sad to hear the news about Mark's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. I hadn't known that his cancer had reoccurred. Although I never had Mark in my class I remember his smile and sense of humor. Mark fought a couragous fight and I admire the positive outlook he had after his many medical procedures. I never had the opportunity to teach your little boy, but I have known him since he was an infant, through Aaron and Brittany.  He was so cute and lovable. Mark was one of the most naturally gifted athletics I ever taught.  He could watch a skill being demonstrated one time and then preform it without hesitation.  I will never forget the determination in his face as he attempted to climb the climbing rope the day before Field Day his 5th grade year.  All his classmates stopped what they were doing and cheered him on.  He didn't make it to the top that day, but he sure did on Field Day. This is extremly hard to write to you, as I am sure it is hard to read. Mark was the light of laughter whenever around us. I remember his funny voices, saying and faces. No matter what he was feeling inside, Mark always made us laugh. There is no replacement in this world for a his character, laughter and love. It is in this moment that I thank God for all the times he stayed so long at our house, that you would have to pick him up! :)  I will always have a special place for Mark, as our family will. I am so so saddened and sorry to hear about Mark's passing and for your loss. I knew Mark through my son. Mark was the 1st real friend John made when we moved here. Mark was a true inspiration and an absolute joy to be around. Mark has such a passion for life and never let anything slow him down. Mark slept over a few times and was always so gracious and respectfull and genuinely kind! He had a heart of gold! Even though the season he was involved with our family was short Mark left footprints on my heart!
