Mary was born to Albino and Adelina Codino on January 30, 1928, in San Francisco, CA. She met her husband, Jamiel (Jim), while they both were taking roller skating lessons in San Francisco. They became a skating team competing from 1948 to 1958, winning numerous awards. She was a proud military wife as Jim’s Air Force career took them from California to Mississippi, to Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. In Germany, Mary and Jim became parents to their daughter Nicole Collette, adopted at birth. After Jim retired from the Air Force, they settled in Northern California. Mary was an exceptional homemaker and mother. In 1997, Jim and Mary moved to Avondale, AZ to be near Mary’s sister Addie and brother-in-law Vince. While in Arizona, she volunteered many hours through Hospice and her Catholic church ministries. She enjoyed 18 years in Arizona before moving to Colorado to be close to her daughter and family. Mary was well-known for her impeccable style and grace, and loved by so many.
Mary was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband Jim.
She is survived by her daughter, Nikki, son-in-law Jim, granddaughters, Ashley and Chelsey, nieces, Louise Owenby and Marie Surber, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 9:30am on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fort Collins.
Graveside will be held 12:30pm Monday, September 21, 2020 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
