Mary Normandin joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven on Thanksgiving evening, Thursday November 25th, 2021, after a five-year courageous war with cancer. Mary’s family surrounded her with love and prayer as she entered her eternal life.
Mary was born on July 9th, 1958 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Harry Jones Sr. and Virginia Jones. Scottsbluff is where Mary enjoyed growing up with her two sisters, Jane and Kim, and her two brothers, Harry Jr. and Robert. At the age of nineteen, Mary moved with her family to Fort Collins, Colorado where she would start her young adult life. In this little college town, Mary met her true love, Michael Normandin, through a blind date set up by a mutual friend. The two would marry on September 12th, 1987 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church amongst family and friends. Mary and Michael would then have their two daughters, Emily Normandin and Brigette Normandin, which would round the family out to what they refer to as the “core four.”
Mary was extraordinary in countless ways. Mary was the perfect wife to her husband with thirty-four beautiful years of marriage. Mary was the perfect mother to her daughters, attending every field trip, caring deeply for each of their friends, and walking her daughters tenderly through each stage of life. Mary was the perfect sister and sister-in-law, the perfect friend, and the perfect companion. Perhaps one of the most profound ways that Mary was so extraordinary was in her devotion to her faith and her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith never wavered despite the daunting battle with cancer she faced, if anything her faith only grew stronger. Mary has a connection with God that is so intensely deep and unique, that her family and friends know that she is rejoicing in Him and is in complete peace.
Mary joins in Heaven her Mother and Father, Virginia and Harry Jones Sr.; her Mother and Father-in-law, Ann and Howard Normandin; her Niece, Leslie McCall; and her Brother-in-Law, Patrick Normandin. She is survived by her true love and husband, Michael Normandin; her eldest daughter, Emily Normandin, Emily’s partner, P.J. Neel, and P.J.’s son, Evan Neel; her youngest daughter, Brigette Kaiser, and Brigette’s husband Wolfgang Kaiser; and her two cherished golden retrievers, Scout and Sailor. Mary is also survived by her adored siblings, Harry Jones Jr., Jane Jones, Kim McCall, and Robert Jones, and her nephew Jeffrey Jones; as well as a great extended family amongst them her beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and countless wonderful friends.
A celebration of Mary’s perfect life will be held on Thursday December 9th, 2021 at 11:00 am at Foundations Church in Windsor, Colorado. A reception will follow to continue the celebration of Mary’s life, and for those who loved her most to gather and share that love for Mary. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating either to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance or to the American Cancer Society in order to continue the family’s fight to defeat cancer.
