Matt was born June 19, 1961, in Quincy, Illinois. He was a loving son of the late Eugene “Gene” Landwehr and Norma Landwehr. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 21 years, Ailing Landwehr, and two daughters, Lisa and Michelle Landwehr.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1985 before returning to college and graduating with an associate's degree in electrical engineering at Front Range Community College. He worked at Xcel Energy for 15 years before deciding to stay home and take care of his family.
Matt was known to be a giving man all his life. He was also known for his generosity and kindness. He was a skilled chef and made the best steak in town. He would always bring the family together with his meals, his compassion, stories, and his love for music.
Matt found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether casting a line at sunrise, sitting around a campfire with friends, or exploring the mountains of Colorado, he appreciated nature and the memories it created. His loyal dogs were often by his side, accompanying him on countless adventures over the years.
Above all, Matt was devoted to his family. He took great pride in caring for those he loved and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether offering advice, sharing his equipment, or simply being present during difficult times, Matt's steady support and kind heart made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Other survivors are nephews Bryan and David Landwehr, cousin Neysa Landwehr, and many lifelong friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Gene Landwehr, his brother Gene Landwehr, and his grandparents Connie and Jack.

“To Those Whom I Love and Those Who Love Me”
When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I have you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it’s time I traveled on alone.
So grieve awhile, for me, if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for awhile that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone
I’ll greet you with a smile and say
“Welcome Home.”
