Monica was born September 4, 1947 to Fred and Helen Schaeffer in Greeley Colorado. Her cherub face and flashing dark eyes earned her a spot in a photography shop advertisement in the Greeley Tribune. She spent her first 18 years on the family farm in Windsor. She went to St Louis for a short training time in computer processing and returned to Greeley to work at UNC offices. She married Jim Steving and together they bought and ran a meat processing plant in Pierce, Co.
After they divorced she started at Larimer County mental health clinics. She met Gordon Lynch while bowling and they shared life together with both retiring from their jobs. She reveled in being retired and at home. She loved Gordon, her house and keeping it spotless constantly keeping it in great shape. Monica also loved her little dogs, reading, gambling occasionally, gardening, cooking delicious meals and caring for Gordon. She helped her sister and brother deal with their health issues also, as much as her busy life could fit in. After Gordon passed in 2022, she started having health issues and slowly succumbed to her own health issues and she lost ground in fulfilling an active life. After being in rehab with her kidneys failing and strength depleted, she opted to go to Hospice. We miss her already and her matriarchal manner of watching over her brother, Donald Schaeffer, and Charleen Schaeffer. Along with the two siblings she is survived by Karen Allred, her good friend and Gordon's daughter. They went through a great deal in finalizing his wishes very recently and kept in touch often until Monica's health failed. She passed in peace September 21, 2023.
