Born in Belleville, Illinois, on May 28,1947, to Ken and Jeanne Vollmar, Nancy grew up in St. Louis County along with her younger sisters, Bonnie and Kim. She graduated from Ritenour High School and attended Central Missouri State College. During the time she was employed as a customer service rep for Southwestern Bell, she married John Schuetz. With their firstborn son, Tim, they moved to Longmont, Colorado, where Jason was born.
Propelled by the wheel of time and circumstance, Nancy divorced John, then later married Bruce Ehlenbeck. They were making their home in Northglenn, Colorado, when Amy was born. Subsequently, they made their home in Effingham, IL., Littleton, Bayfield, and Fort Collins, Colorado.
Ultimately, Nancy and Bruce’s family expanded when Tim married Anna Phelan and Jason married Jackie Hazzard. The family circle widened when grandchildren were born: Classic and Damon, Tim and Anna’s children; Burke and Grady, sons of Jason and Jackie.
Nancy is survived by Bruce, her beloved husband of 44 years, her children (each their own person, just as she had hoped) and her grandchildren who were always able to delight and surprise her. She is also survived by her two sisters (Bonnie and Kim), brothers-in-law (Dan and Chris Ehlenbeck), and sister-in-law (Marlene Ireland and her husband, Jan), as well as many nieces, nephews, and the ever-growing number of the next generation of her family.
Ever the indomitable one, ever changing and evolving, Nancy loved her family and friends. From “Mom” to Mother Earth, “Nana” is now a whisper in the wind. Her Self merging with the Higher Self, her temporal body cradled in the arms of Spirit, Mother-Father God.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was pre-deceased by her first husband, John Schuetz, and her brother-in-law, Russ Ehlenbeck.
A celebration of Nancy's life is planned for Sept 20, 2025. For further details, please contact Bruce at [email protected].
