Nonny Lynn McChesney, beloved wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at the age of 74. Nonny was born January 31, 1952, in Longmont, Colorado, to Walter and Ruth Kauffman. She graduated from high school and later earned her beautician’s license from Longmont Beauty School. She went on to work for Hewlett Packard in electronic assembly.
Growing up, Nonny shared a particularly close bond with her sister, Trudy, who was Nonny’s little shadow. And the sisters made many wonderful memories together, including camping trips and vacations with their parents.
On December 31, 1976, Nonny married the love of her life, Paul McChesney. Together, they shared nearly 50 years of marriage and a life filled with love, friendship, travel, and adventure.
Nonny had a special love for the simple joys in life. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Skip-Bo, and was an avid Bingo player. She loved traveling with Paul and spending time camping along the way. Nonny and Paul were active members of Club 100 Search and Rescue. Together, they helped during the Big Thompson Flood in 1976, searching for victims. They also participated in parades and events with that club.
Nonny was deeply devoted to the people she loved and was known for being a true and loyal friend. She believed in the words, “Once a friend, always a friend,” and she lived those words throughout her life.
Nonny will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Trudy (Jim) Wolfe; and her dear friends Carol and Dan McCloud, Nancy Griffith, Judy Tuxhorn, Kasey, Angie, Robert, and the many other friends and loved ones whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruth Kauffman, and her husband, Paul McChesney.
Nonny’s life was filled with love, loyalty, friendship, and treasured memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
