Norma was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 2, 1935, to Walter T. and Mary Elizabeth (Peek) Neufeld. She lived in Missouri until she married Robert Tex Crosby "Bob" – the cute sailor she met at a graduation party she didn’t want to go to – on Christmas day 1954. She lived in San Diego from 1954 – 1956, while Bob was in the Navy; and settled in Littleton, Colorado after Bob left the Navy.
Norma was the mother to MaryAnn, who arrived in 1960, followed right behind by Robert Jr. in 1961. Norman pulled up the rear in 1965. Norma stayed at home until Norman was in school and then she worked at various administrative jobs, finally landing at Martin Marietta Aerospace in 1979.
Following Bob’s aerospace job around the U.S., Norma and the family left Littleton for Orlando, Florida and Torrance, California, but always returned to “home base” of Littleton.
Norma and Bob built their “dome home” in Dillon, Colorado in 1984 and commuted to Littleton from 1985 – 1992 when they both retired. In 2001 they “came down the mountain” to Loveland where Norma’s sister Carol lived. They became “snowbirds” and traveled annually to Tucson to escape the Colorado winters.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years Robert Tex Crosby, Sr., daughter MaryAnn Crosby Stroub of Loveland, and son Robert Tex Crosby, Jr. of Marysville, Washington (Katherine); grandchildren Blake, Tristan, Morgan and Ian; and younger sister Carol Ann (Neufeld) Youngren of Loveland. She was preceded in death by her son Norman Lee Crosby in 2023.
Norma was an avid quilter, winning many awards at quilt shows around Colorado. Also a paper-crafter, Norma had all the gadgets and supplies that go along with it. At last count she had over 500+ rubber stamps, many pens and stickers, and other supplies to make the pretty greeting cards she crafted. Norma could have easily re-stocked Michael’s. Sailing, square dancing, and traveling were also activities enjoyed.
After reading the obits daily “I needed to make sure I’m not in it today” - she diligently did the daily crossword – in ink – before starting her day. Jeopardy was often on in the background while making dinner with answers being yelled at the TV. With seriousness, she and MaryAnn could run a category.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 South Hwy 287, Fort Collins, Colorado 80525.
Memories of Norma and words of condolence for her family are welcome at resthavencolorado.com.
