Pat Utsler

Born on October 4, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of Betty Eliza (Kennard) and Virgil Clarence Wadle. Pat grew up with the values of the family farm alongside her seven siblings. A graduate of Saint Joseph’s Academy, she carried the lessons of her Catholic education with her throughout a life defined by hard work and resilience.

In 1977, Pat relocated to Colorado with her two children, Richard and Tracey. As a hardworking single mother, she provided a foundation of strength and love for her family. Pat enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career with IBM as a computer mainframe storage management specialist. Her work took her from the offices in Boulder to the comfort of her home and across the country, allowing her to see the world while doing a job she truly loved.

Pat was known for being "sassy" and "feisty"—a strong, independent woman who never hesitated to speak her mind. Yet, beneath that spirited exterior was a heart of gold. Her home and her heart were always open to her children and grandchildren, for whom she would do absolutely anything. An avid reader, she could often be found lost in the pages of a John Grisham novel, a passion she took great joy in sharing and exchanging books with her grandson, Austin. Pat loved her family more than life itself. She will be dearly missed.

Her legacy of strength, independence, and an enduring love will be carried forward by her children, Richard Utsler (Jessica) and Tracey Corts; her beloved grandchildren, Chelsea Bohm (Michael), Blake Warner (DeLanda), Amber Phillis, Austin Corts, and Aimee Corts; and her great-grandchildren, John Bohm, Elijah Warner, and one precious great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her brothers Michael (Julie), Mark, and Morris, and by her sisters Karen (Sheldon) and Jolene (Jim). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Martin, and her sister Connie.
