Patricia Marie Bainum

Patricia Marie Carbone Bainum, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Her life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, music, and the simple joy of being together.

Patricia was born on September 12, 1941, in Denver, Colorado, to George and Ethel Carbone. She grew up in North Denver alongside her three brothers, Thomas, Joseph, and Danny. Patricia attended and graduated from St. Catherine’s Parochial School, where her Catholic faith became an important foundation of her life.

After school, Patricia worked for Sinton Dairy. It was through her brothers that she met the love of her life, George “Sonny” Bainum. She attended business school and, on October 18, 1969, Patricia and Sonny were married, beginning a partnership that would span decades and become the heart of their family.

Patricia and Sonny made their home in Bennett, Colorado, where they raised their children, Christopher and Rhonda. Patricia began working for the Bennett School District, where she became a beloved office manager. She dedicated many years to the school district and cared deeply for the students, teachers, and staff. Her office was not simply a place of work—it was a place where people were welcomed, helped, encouraged, and cared for. She took great pride in being part of the school community and loved the people she worked with.

Patricia’s faith was at the center of her life. She loved her Catholic Church and cherished the traditions, music, and fellowship that came with her faith. Music was another special part of who she was. Patricia played both the piano and organ and shared her gift of music with her church family at Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church.

Patricia and Sonny eventually followed their family to Julesburg, Colorado, where retirement gave them even more time to enjoy the people and things they loved most. She treasured the countless hours spent with her grandchildren, Josh, Ryan, and Matthew. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy, and she loved watching them grow, cheering them on, and simply being present for their lives.

Patricia loved so many things: her faith, music, bowling, baking, dancing with Sonny, the Denver Broncos, and spending time on the boat with Sonny and her brothers during their younger years. She was a devoted supporter of her children’s athletic activities and later took just as much joy in supporting her grandchildren. She loved being surrounded by her family and animals and found happiness in the everyday moments that made a house feel like home.

Above all, Patricia was a woman who loved deeply. She loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her brothers, her extended family, her friends, her church, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout the years. Her greatest joy was her family, and her greatest gift was the love she gave so freely.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Carbone; her brother, Thomas “Tom” Carbone; her beloved husband, George “Sonny” Bainum; and her son, Christopher Bainum.

She leaves behind her daughter, Rhonda; her beloved grandchildren, Josh, Ryan, and Matthew; her brothers, Joseph and Danny Carbone; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that Patricia is once again reunited with Sonny and Christopher, and that the faith she held so dearly throughout her life has carried her home.

Her hands may be still, but the music she brought to our lives will never fade.

May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of God and reunited with those she loved who went before her.
