Patricia Ann Balde

December 3, 1932September 5, 2018

Patricia Ann Balde, 85, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 3, 1932, to Mary and Paul Fisher in Karns City, PA. Patricia was the oldest of six children. This provided the training ground for becoming the world-class mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother her family and the community knew her to be.

Patricia and Richard (Dick) Balde married in 1952 in Butler, PA, and started a family. Their early journey took them to New York, Pennsylvania, and finally to Sandusky, Ohio, where they spent over 50 years.

Patricia and Richard were longtime members of the Sandusky Elks Club, where they met many wonderful lifelong friends. As their children left the nest, Patricia went to work at Kiddie Korral for ten years, nurturing and loving the children of others, many of whom would approach her years later as adults to give her a hug and tell her of their fond memories of time spent in her care.

Patricia loved cooking, gardening, and golfing, but far and away, her greatest joy was time spent with family. She touched the lives of so many, instilling values, a sense of love, community and compassion—all while keeping her sense of humor.

Patricia was preceded in death by her son, Richard Balde Jr., in 2010.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard Balde, and three children: daughter Deborah Frank (Richard Frank) of Stow, OH; daughter Barbara Thomas of Fort Collins, CO; and son Timothy Balde (Patty Balde) of Huron, OH; nine beloved grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, three of her four brothers and many nieces and nephews.

As per Patricia’s wishes, she will be coming home to her final resting place, Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery in Huron, Ohio. Family and friends are invited for a service on September 21st at 11:00 at the cemetery chapel, followed by a luncheon at the Sandusky Yacht Club.

Memorial contributions can be made to Book Trust at booktrust.org or mailed to Book Trust, 789 Sherman Street, Suite 300A, Denver, CO 80203. Book Trust is a national charity that provides scholastic books to low-income children.
