Patricia Bluemke, 94, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024, following a brief illness. A beloved daughter, wife, mother to Kathleen (Eric), grandmother to Katelyn (Josh), and great grandmother to Adam.
She is preceded in death by her husband (Curtis), former husband (Leonard), father (Ralph), and mother (Ona). Patricia was a remarkable woman who leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, wit, and kindness.
Patricia was born in Jameson, Missouri and raised in Kansas City. Following high school, in a time when most women didn’t continue their education, she went on to College at Bob Jones University. In her first job at International Harvester, she met her first husband Leonard. They enjoyed skiing, took many camping trips, and celebrated the birth of their daughter. Employment opportunities took them to Salt Lake City, Denver, and finally to Southern California.
Patricia was an executive secretary for the Board of the Los Angeles Metro Transit Agency (formerly Southern California RTD) and met her second husband, Curtis, in California. They enjoyed life together by traveling internationally as well as all over the US in their Airstream with their dogs, Megan and Winnie. Patricia loved to travel and saw the world on many occasions, including Hong Kong, Panama, the UK, Spain, Austria, Italy, France, Australia, and Costa Rica. She was equally at home touring cathedrals of Europe or on a road trip singing Johnny Cash. Always up for an adventure, in her late 80s, she enjoyed attending George Strait concerts in Las Vegas and Kansas City.
A dear friend to many, she was involved with numerous book clubs, the Newcomers Club, and always had tea and See’s candy ready for anyone who might stop by or need a friend. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Collins (CO) and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church of Newport Beach (CA).
Above all, Patricia loved and was dedicated to her family and moved to Fort Collins to be close to them where she could enjoy concerts, recitals, and games for Katelyn. She never missed a practice or a lesson. Through all this, she also managed the family farm in Missouri.
A private event will be held for family and friends, and she will be interned alongside her parents in Kansas City. Her spirit and kindness will be cherished by all those lucky enough to know her and love her, and she will be dearly missed. May she rest in peace.
