Patrick was born May 31, 1955, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, the firstborn child of Kenneth and Beverly (Adler) Fahey. He was a 1973 graduate of Columbus High School in Marshfield, and a 1977 graduate of Viterbo College in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Patrick taught at Wahlert High School in Dubuque, Iowa, before returning to school at The University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. There he received two M.A. degrees - Art Education (1987), and Fiber Art and Textile Design (1990), followed by his Ph.D. in Art Education. In 1994, he accepted his first position as Dr. Patrick G. Fahey at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota. After one year of straight line winds, and northern Minnesota weather, he happily moved his growing art gallery to Fort Collins, Colorado. It was there he settled in to leave his mark in Art Education at Colorado State University. Countless students benefited from his passion for art and teaching until he retired from the University in December, 2020. Although Patrick’s career includes numerous publications, national and state awards, he is most remembered by his community for his wisdom, warmth, and kindness.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Kathy. He is survived by three siblings, Joan (Paul) Tremelling, Karen (John) Krier, and Michael (Donna) Fahey, all of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
