Paul Joseph Fromme, 84, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away Friday February 23, 2018. Paul was born on April 11, 1933 in Olean, New York to Joseph and Aileen Fromme. He served his country during the mid-1950s in the US Army and was honorably discharged. On April 30, 1955, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Carroll, in Rochester, New York.
After serving his time in the armed forces, Paul went to St. Bonaventure University to earn his degree in mathematics. He would use his skills in mathematics in his work at Kodak for several years as a physicist. In Paul’s leisure time he enjoyed woodworking, hat collecting, and fly fishing. He would make his own flies, and spent many tranquil days on the Poudre River.
Always the scientist, Paul was an extremely intelligent yet unassuming man. Moreover, he cared intensely about his family. He remained dedicated to his wife Phyllis for 60 years of marriage, parted only by her death two years before him. He went out of his way to offer connection and support to his adult children and his grandchildren, through the sharing of meals and memories and by contributing generously to their college educations. Paul even dedicated himself to his own family history, spending many years compiling huge binders containing 100s of years of his own and his wife's genealogy.
Preceding Paul in death is his parents, his wife Phyllis, and their son Brett Fromme. Surviving him are his son Brian (Diane) Fromme, and brother William “Bud”(Carol) Fromme. Paul is further survived by his grandchildren Brittany (Zach) Runyan, Ian Fromme and Amy Fromme.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 9 at Allnutt Funeral Service starting at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Crossroads Safehouse in honor and memory of Paul Fromme.
