Pauline McCall Walker
August 14, 1925 – October 14, 2020
Pauline 'Polly' McCall Walker, 95, of Windsor, Colorado, was born on August, 14, 1925, and passed away on October 14, 2020. Polly led a life of charm and grace - many a friend referred to her as “one classy lady.”
Polly was born and raised in Eveleth, Minnesota, where her father, Howard Murray, was the Head Administrator of the local hospital. Polly always had fond remembrances of growing up in Eveleth: her childhood friends, going to school (which she loved), tough times during the Depression, and as a teen working at the local pharmacy managing the soda bar.
In 1944, Polly attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she graduated in 1947 with a Bachelors Degree of Fine Arts. While there, she met Norman 'Bud' J. Nicholl. They were married and had three sons, Bill, Andy and Joe. From Ann Arbor, the family moved to Chicago, and then to Fayetteville, N.Y., settling in 1957.
In 1965, Polly married James T. Walker and they were both active in the Fayetteville, N.Y., community.
Polly went on to attend Syracuse University where she graduated with a Masters in Education, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She then found her calling as a Regents English Teacher at Chittenango High School, N.Y. During Polly’s 17-year tenure, she was loved by her students, and she loved teaching them.
It was about this time when Polly became an avid golfer. She was very good and played in many local tournaments. In 1986, Polly and James retired to Sarasota, Fla.
Having the travel itch though, they soon moved on to Windsor, Colo., to be closer to her son Bill and sister, Barbara.
Polly's move to Windsor proved to be the right fit. Over the next 25 years, Polly enjoyed life, being active with family, painting, and reading her never-ending murder mysteries. Polly passed peacefully at home the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020. Polly's family and many friends across the country greatly loved her, and we miss her very much...
