Priscilla Anne Barela

September 4, 1944November 30, 2019

Priscilla Anne Barela peacefully went to meet Our Savior on November 30, 2019. She was surrounded by loved ones.

Priscilla Anne Aragon was born September 4, 1944 to Martin and Louise Aragon in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Priscilla grew up going to Holy Family Church and School and graduated as a Lambkin from Fort Collins High School in 1961. As a little girl she loved spending her days swimming at City Park Pool and playing with paper dolls. She had fond memories of her youth and being raised by her parents; they instilled the Faith and Love that she carried with her throughout her life.

Priscilla married Frank Barela, on November 14, 1964. She worked at Poudre Valley Hospital and then stayed home to raise her kids, Carrie, Scott and Leslie. She also spent many years working in her parents’ business.

Priscilla was very active in her faith, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, attending daily Mass and graduating from Catholic Biblical School in 1996. She also served the Lord by feeding the hungry, standing in complete support for the unborn, and supporting those less fortunate. She was always there to help. She sacrificed and always felt that her mission was to do what God would want. She knew her Eternal Life was bound to her works here on earth.

Priscilla was full of life. She loved her family and spending time with them. Making memories and continuing traditions was important to her. Holidays were some of Priscilla’s favorite times. She spent time decorating her house and setting the Holiday dinner table to make it special for everyone who came. She decorated with Simpich Dolls, Annalees and Nutcrackers. Her Christmases were always ones to be remembered.

Priscilla loved to travel. She made time to take her parents and her children on yearly family vacations to see family and visit favorite places. Priscilla lived in the moment, taking the time to cherish what was happening and make sure to bring home special souvenirs that would keep those moments close to her heart. Some of her foreign travels encompassed Italy, Spain, France, England and Mexico. Her favorite trip being a visit to Rome, Italy; where she had an audience with Pope John Paul II. One of her last trips was visiting Hawaii to see Schofield Barracks where Frank was stationed in the Army. Although her aging years became more difficult, Priscilla kept her faith, told jokes with laughter and smiled to her last moment.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Barela; her parents, Martin and Louise Aragon, and her father and mother in law, Manuel and Mary Barela.

She is survived by three children, Carrie (Andre L.) Johnson, Scott (Mary) Barela, and Leslie Barela; and seven grandchildren, Christopher Barela, Olivia Johnson, Anthony Barela, Martin Johnson, Andre F. Johnson, Jalen Johnson and Jacob Johnson. One brother, Dave (Marlene) Aragon.

I remember my cousin Priscilla going to visit my Grandma Martha on a regular basis with Aunt Louise. And after Grandma moved to Las Vegas every time she came to Colorado we would meet with her and Leslie to catch up on the family gossip. She was a smart business woman who was strong of faith. I love you cousin ❤️

My Aunt Priscilla was such a huge part of my life! I looked up to her and admired her. She was always so well put together and quick with a smile. She was fun and generous and a good cook. She was at all my life events and I will miss her so much!

Sorry to hear about your loss. Pricilla was a wonderful and beautiful person. I knew your mother since we were children and we attended Holy Family grade school.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother, Priscilla. In the short time that I cleaned her house, I enjoyed our conversation before I started cleaning. We shared a lot of memories from our past, our children, our grandchildren and our current life. She truly loved her grandchildren. Rest In Peace my friend.
